The 2018-19SY has officially finished and students are, I am sure, already enjoying their summer break.
The final week of classes is always exciting as we run through the Moving-Up and Graduation Ceremonies. The smiles on kids’ faces (and their parents) as they receive ribbons and medals for their well-earned achievements, says it all. Seeing one of our graduating kinder kids giving a speech in English and our Grade 6 Valedictorian speaking about her dreams, thanking her parents, teachers and others who are supporting and encouraging her, make a number of the struggles we regularly face worthwhile. Two of last year’s graduating students attended this year’s graduation and shared about their achievements. Our 2018 Valedictorian achieved first place in the top section (competing against hundreds of students) at her High School, and the other student was promoted to the Star or top section at his High School. It’s both exciting and rewarding to see HOHFA Graduates doing so well.
Maintenance crews moved in as soon as HOHFA classes finished. Buildings need repairing, classrooms require painting inside and out, boundary fences and gates also need fixing and the list could go on. The school will be looking immaculate when classes re-commence in June. We are still accepting donations to assist with the repairs.
Focus Project – Sponsorship
Kids Sponsorship is a major focus of what we do, as a good education is essential if the poverty cycle is to be broken. In fact, those whom we (including some of you) have helped attain college degrees, have found good paying jobs in Baguio. Because of this they are able to help their families as well as invest small amounts into our school.

Ministry
At the beginning of April we started our new kids’ church outreach. Between 80-90 kids are now turning up on Saturdays for worship, Bible discussion and activities. We are grateful for the exceptional team of young people that are helping. It’s rewarding to see people getting a heart for and ministering to their communities.
Small groups are doing well. People are engaged in worship, Bible discussion, and the groups are growing in size and multiplying. Jenny & Joe are doing a fantastic job training up new musicians and worship teams for Sunday services and youth services. In connection to the latter, the youth leadership team have embraced the extra challenges of senior leadership and are leading the youth well. The young people are growing in maturity and also bringing their friends.
